Dr. Flowers uses top-quality materials to create beautiful, long-lasting crowns.

Natural-looking, durable Dental Crowns

A dental crown is a tooth-shaped cap that’s placed over a tooth to improve its appearance and restore its shape, size and strength.

Sometimes, crowns are used to change the color or shape of a tooth. The tooth might be in decent condition, but the patient wants a better color or a more natural shape.

Teeth that have been root canaled are also prime candidates for a crown. The tooth has been weakened and needs additional support to function properly in your mouth.

Creating and placing your new Crown

CrownsDr. Charles Flowers uses high quality metal-free porcelain, zirconia or composite (metal and porcelain) to create beautiful, long-lasting crowns. He also uses a top-quality local lab that he has been relying on for many years for the best aesthetic and color-matching results.

Under anesthesia, your tooth is gently filed down so that the crown solidly covers it. When cemented into place the crown fully encases the entire visible portion of a tooth that lies at and above the gum line.

Although crowns fix similar dental conditions as porcelain veneers, they have the added benefit of improving the bite. Crowns are usually used instead of veneers for cosmetic reasons when the tooth is too broken down or decayed for a veneer.

Conditions requiring Crowns

Crowns

Dr. Flowers will go over your X-rays with you so you can see exactly what is needed.

You may need a crown because of:

  • Extensive tooth decay
  • Broken or cracked teeth
  • A misaligned or misshaped tooth
  • A tooth that has had root canal therapy
  • Large metal or tooth-colored fillings, that weaken the remaining tooth
  • Teeth with large fillings that are breaking down and cannot be refilled

Replace your old Crowns

Dr. Flowers can repair any low quality, older crowns made from non-durable materials or crowns that have already broken down with strong and natural-looking ones. He will conduct a full exam and evaluate what should be removed and replaced to optimize aesthetics and your oral health.
